Emails
Templates
Whole emails to start from — the built-in starters and the ones you save — and how to use them in a campaign.
# Templates A template is a whole email to start from: its blocks, its design and its footer. Starting an email from a template copies it, so the email and the template are separate from then on. Changing a template later changes none of the emails started from it. Templates live under **Emails → Templates**. ## Built-in and custom The pills at the top filter the list: - **Built-in** — the starters that come with Marker CRM: **Welcome**, **Newsletter**, **Announcement**, **Special offer** and **Plain letter**. They cannot be edited or deleted. To change one, **Duplicate** it and edit the copy. - **Custom** — templates you made or saved. The list shows each template's **Name** and category, its **Type**, how many campaigns **Used** it, and when it was **Last modified**. Your own templates are listed before the built-in ones. ## Make a template There are three ways: - **From scratch:** click **New template**, give it a name in the header (**Untitled template**), choose or type a **Category**, write it in the block editor and click **Save template**. - **From an email you are writing:** in the block editor, choose **Save as template** from the **⋮** menu. Give it a **Name** and a **Category**, and click **Save template**. The template keeps the email's blocks, design and footer. - **From another template:** choose **Duplicate** from its row menu. The copy is named "(copy)" and opens for editing. Templates are written with blocks. **Save as template** is offered only in the block editor, and only once the email has something in it. ### Categories A category is a label you type, such as "Newsletters" or "Onboarding". Typing a new one creates it; there is nothing to set up first. A template without one is listed as **Uncategorized**. Categories help you find templates in the list's search, which looks at names and categories. ## Use a template **In a new campaign:** choose **Use in a campaign** from the template's row menu. A new campaign opens with the template's email in it. **In any email you are writing:** in the block editor, click the **Templates** icon beside the editor name. Search or filter by **All**, **Built-in** or **Custom**, pick one and click **Use this template**. :::caution Using a template replaces what is already written in the email. The subject, audience and schedule stay as they are. ::: To look at a template without using it, choose **Preview** from its row menu, or click a built-in template's row. ## Edit a template Click a custom template's name, or choose **Edit**. Make your changes and click **Save template**. **Preview** shows it as it would be sent. ## Delete a template Choose **Delete** from the row menu, or tick several and use the bar that appears. Emails already started from a template keep what they were given. Deleting cannot be undone.A template is a whole email to start from: its blocks, its design and its footer.
